Arkady Shaikhet. A master of Russian photography in the ’20s and ‘30s
08 marzo 2014 - 03 ottobre 2014
Arkady Samoylovich Shaikhet (Nikolajew, 1898 – Moscow, 1959) was one of the leading Soviet photographers of the 1920s and ‘30s. His photographs document large scale planning and transformation of the countryside in the Soviet Union.
The exhibition, organised by the Municipality of Torviscosa with a vital contribution by the CRAF (The Photographic Research and Archive Centre) of Spilimbergo and the support of the Soyuz Photo Agency in Moscow, owners of Shaikhet’s photography, presented 70 photographs. The exhibition’s aim was to compare two experiences of communication and propaganda by two regimes – that of Italian Fascism, represented by Torviscosa, and that of the Soviet Union.
